About Me

My photo
We are Daniel and Sara. We met October of 2006 and were married August of 2007 in the Salt Lake Temple. Since then we're kind of in the fast lane. We both got the baby bug pretty early on in our marriage and we welcomed our beautiful baby boy Dmitri in August 2008! We couldn't be happier! Daniel is a Captain in the Army and has his Bachelors in Nursing. We're living in HI and so far are enjoying our time here! I'm a stay at home mommy and am looking forward to finishing school. Blah :} Dan enjoys; hunting, basketball, shooting ranges, movies, *sigh - video games and Halloween. Sara enjoys; crocheting, baking, aquariums, sewing, shopping, swimming and trying to get organized. Dmitri enjoys; trying new food, crawling, bath time, stroller rides, electronics and getting into things he shouldn't. It takes all kinds to make up a family - and we cherish and love our little family! :)

Sunset to Sunrise

We had a great week, last week! Daniel had a 4 day work week, and we were able to go to
the beach, twice! That is unheard of for us lately!

Dmitri got to do some fun painting projects. I snagged some fancy paint, at Wal-Mart, be-
cause they had their back to school specials going on. So I bought some paint, and a little
wooden truck, for him to paint.
He went to town! He painted the truck, and repainted the truck, and had so much fun with
it!

I was an organizing freak last week! I had to tackle the scary closet... It really was a scary
closet.
About 2 weeks ago, I had heard some noises coming from it. I was the only one awake,
otherwise I would have had Daniel investigate... :} But I assumed it was a giant cockroach.
So I sprayed like crazy, around the outside of the closet.
I don't hear anything all day, and then Daniel comes home from work. I was folding laundry
at the dining table, and telling him about the noises I heard last night. Well, all the sudden,
mouse runs out and across the entry way. Ugh!
We have had suspicions of a mouse, but hadn't seen any signs of one. I don't remember if
I blogged about our cacamouse sightings, so here they are; Daniel's sitting on the sofa, and
gets up really fast and goes towards the kitchen. He said he saw something. He said it was
bigger than a cockroach, so he thought mouse. Eee...
Well a week or two later, Dmitri had woken up early, so me and him were lounging on the
couch. He asked for some milk, so I go to get him some. As I round the sofa, I see a black
thing in the middle of the floor, and it darts under that sofa. It moved so fast, I could hear
it's nails slipping on the floor. But I couldn't tell what it was! I was thinking mouse, scorpion,
extra giant creepy mother cockroach??? So I sprayed around the sofa, just in case, then hid
Dmitri and I in his bedroom... :}
After a reasonable amount of time, we come out and go on with our day. But as I'm sitting
on the sofa, I hear it moving under the sofa!!! Ugh!! Back to hiding...
So we don't see anything for a week, and then head to Utah. Before we leave, Daniel set 4
traps. But when we get back, not ONE trap is triggered, and the peanut butter is completely
untouched. Hmm.
So we're thinking this mouse {mice} is going between condos. There is a 5 inch by 5 inch
hole behind our fridge - it's like 8 inches above the ground, but there are pipes that run out
of it, so I think the mouse is climbing the pipes and getting in.
So once we found out it was really a mouse, we saw it a couple more times right after that. I saw
it again, that first night, coming out from under our bedroom door, making it's way towards the
sofa. I freaked it out, and it went back under our door.
That next morning, at like 5am, Daniel's woken up to some scratching noises. He looks in the
direction they're coming from, and see a little black thing at our bathroom door. He gets up, and
it runs into my closet. He checked out what it was doing, and saw sawdust, from where it was
scratching, at the bottom of our bathroom door. Weird!
I saw it the next night, coming out of Dmitri's room! Which I was NOT okay with! I didn't want
to scare it, and have it run back in his room, so I sat still, and it ran through the living room,
and into the scary closet.
That was the last we've seen it. We bought some traps, and have them in that closet. One
reason we didn't originally think mice, is because we saw no signs of them. Mainly, no poop.
Well cleaning that closet, revealed that it was indeed spending time in there, because there
was poop all under the shelving rack. Yuck! So far, we still haven't caught anything.
Well, last night, I'm watching tv, and hear noises coming from behind the fridge. It was scratching, climbing noises. So I threw a shoe, through the bar opening, at the fridge. The noises
immediately stopped, and I didn't hear anything after that. I told Daniel we need to cover that
hole!!
That was a long schpeel about a little mouse... But I have to say, I'm thankfully a lot less
freaked out by the mouse, than I would be if it were a giant cockroach. I did find one of those,
when I was weeding out our shoe bin by the door. Totally creepy! I think it was dying already,
but I sprayed it, and it got all crazy angry, which freaks me out, then died. HATE THEM!!

So there was some fun to our week, not just organizing! Thursday night I went to a going
away dinner, for my friend Jessica.
I don't like goodbyes, or going away parties, but I love all the friends that come out, and the
fun time we have! It really was a great time, and we're going to miss her and her family!!! :(

Friday, when Daniel got home, I had to urge to go see the sunset. So we packed up, and headed
to the beach! We also stopped to check out the Black Pearl... but totally walked the wrong way,
and only got to stare at it from a distance. We'll have to try again!

Dmitri is a beach baby! He LOVES it! Loves the sand, water, atmosphere, everything! I have
a ton of pictures from our weekend... so I made a lot of collages... but there's still a lot of them! :}
This first picture, he ended up with sand on his forehead. I though he looked adorable, but he
didn't get it :)

The water was a little chilly at first, but we thankfully warmed up to it.

Dmitri couldn't decide if he wanted to swim, or build sandcastles, so he was in and out of the
water. Daniel helped him build one, and then a wave came, and took out the front of it...
Dmitri wasn't happy...

The sunset was really pretty! If it were up to Dmitri, the sun would never go down. He gets
mad, when he notices the sun going down, and says, "No, sun can't go down!"
So he wasn't really big on the sunset... This child would play all day and night!!

These are from when we first got there. The middle pic is the pirates ship.

So we got to see the sunset on Friday night, then got to see the sunrise on Saturday!
We had a ward activity Saturday, and Daniel was asked to be the first aid person. So we had to get there when it started, at 6AM!
I was expecting the weather and water to be chilly, but it actually wasn't too bad! Dmitri had
a good time playing on the surfboards - until the other kids showed up.

I only took picture early in the morning, but wish I had taken some once everyone had
arrived! But ohwell. Some of the guys {and girls} were also teaching people how to surf,
and taking them out. They asked if I wanted to try, and I said no. Kind of kicking myself
now, but I just hate going out so far! So scary!!
The first picture is Kupu and Leila. I had Kupu in my class late year, and then Leila's in my
class this year. The middle pic is Koah. He's my friend Jessica's boy.

There was a lot of hole digging, and sand angels being made! Dmitri LOVED sitting in the
holes, and just hanging out. He also asked to be buried a few times, and we did make it into
the water. It was a bit rough, so held onto him most the time, which he hated, but too bad!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/2011-7-93.jpg?t=1310424508
Daniel took him out boogie boarding, and then went out surfing a couple times. That's him
paddling out on the green board.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/2011-7-94.jpg?t=1310424525
Dmitri had a good time playing with Leila. She's an awesome little surfer, and went out to
do some surfing. Dmitri asked me, "Where Leela go? Leela come play with me?" It was
kind of adorable!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/2011-7-95.jpg?t=1310467649
It was probably the best ward activity we've had! It was so much fun! We were there for 6
hours! No burns for Daniel or Dmitri... but the top of my legs got burnt. It's always something!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/2011-7-91.jpg?t=1310424549
So we had a really fun weekend! Sunday we went to church, and then just lounged at home.
Dmitri had fun in Nursery. He found 3 squishy balls, with spikes and faces, and did not want
to leave them at church. So me and his teacher had to talk him into leaving them at church.
When I went to pick him up from Nursery, he was on the floor smiling, because he had tackled
his teacher, Jeff! So he definitely had a good Sunday :)

And now, phone pics!
He was playing a game with Daniel, and had this fake
laugh going. It was cracking me up!

This was him, after our ward activity! He was completely passed out!

Dmitri and I were reading, In a People House, before bed. I was having him look at the pictures, to figure out the word. So I point to the picture of the shoe, and then the word. he says, "Shoe." Then I point to the picture of the sock, and then the word. He says, "Missing shoe." Holy cow it made me laugh! :}

And a video of him laughing the other day... :)
