So Dmitri was in need of a haircut last week. I had been thinking of
buzzing it for awhile, but was to scared! I asked Daniel what hethought, and he told me to just do it, because of course it'll grow back.
Well, I finally had the nerve to do it. Unfortunately it was after I had
already cut the bottom... so to make it even, I had to cut the top just
as short. Wow. There may have been, "what was I thinking" thought
pass through my head, but when you shave down the middle of someone's
head, there's no turning back...
Poor Dmitri. He watched the whole thing, and the look on his face, he
was completely horrified. He kept touching his head, and picking up
pieces of hair, trying to put them back on his head. It totally broke my
heart!
I know, it's just hair. And since he's a boy, it wont take long to grow back.
But still, I felt bad.
It was just SO short! Daniel thought he looked taller, and his head looked
bigger. I thought he looked shorter, and his head looked smaller :} Most
people say he looks older, and considering he's had his fohawk since birth,
he does look older. Like a real little boy! Not a toddler or baby :(
It's been a few days, and it's grown some. He also got some sun, so his
scalp isn't so white. We've also gotten used to it, and I'm thinking I kind
of like it. I don't know if we'll keep it up, but it's definitely grown on me.
This morning, he was looking in the mirror. He said, "Look mommy, my hair
growing!" So he's excited it's growing back... :}

So we spent some time at the pool last week. Even after applying sunscreen, my back
still burnt. Dmitri's back just gets tanner and tanner. I think his little Copperton butt
is cute! I'm glad he takes after my mom and sister Cassie. They hardly ever burn. If
they do, it's just their face. Otherwise they just get a nice dark tan. I do pretty good,
but still burn. Boo.
Anyways... I remembered, as he was walking to the water, that I needed to sunscreen
that bald little head!

Daniel and I are debating swimming lessons for him. I'm all for them, because I think he'd
be more inclined to listen to a teacher, than me. At least from past learning experiences.
Daniel doesn't think he needs them, because Daniel didn't have formal swimming lessons,
and I did... but flunked out. Well, sucked. Because I didn't trust the teacher. That was when
I was 5 or 6... but after one summer in the pool, I could swim just fine.
Dmitri is doing good on his own. He's pretty comfortable in the water. He knows how to
hold his breath under water, and is starting to swim with his whole face in the water. But
I still can't take his wings off. He just sinks, even though he does a good doggy paddle with
his wings.
I taught my little sister how to swim, but she was 8. So that was different... But anyways,
the debate continues!
We had a quiet week. Dmitri has pretty much gotten over his cold. Minus a bit of an icky
nose. But yes... Daniel and I have caught it. I've got the icky nose, plugged ears and congestion.
Daniel has the sore throat and exhaustion. Boo.
So we just vegged this weekend. I had someone cover my class on Sunday, so we just laid
around, watched movies and ate ice cream. Which Daniel said he needed for his throat :}
So I made something for Dmitri's room. I think I've changed out his wall decor like 80
times. So here's another attempt. I was inspired by this image, and basically reworked it
in photoshop. Then I used it as my template, to make Flash and Batman. I ordered them
from Costco in 8x12 and 12x20. Not sure how I'm going to hang them yet. Maybe just frame
them... but we'll see.
I also thought about uploading the images into my Silhouette, then outlining them and cutting
them out in vinyl. I think I might try it, just for the heck of it!

Okay... now time for the randoms... and some movies!
Aunt Neanie sent him Spiderman pez! He's become a pro at filling
the pez dispenser :}
Fun at Target! It's always a good time there ;)
Break time at the pool...
Oh who knows... but it's a child's right of passage :}
See, they grow up so fast!
Well... no movies. Blogger wont let me upload them right now :[So that's it for last week... Daniel's on call this week, and has a 4 day
weekend! SO HAPPY about that!! :D
Wait... it worked! I was trying to get him to swim with his face in
the water... but he had his own agenda...

We missed you at church yesterday, I was excited to see Dmitri's new haircut! I hope you are feeling better and that your ears are finally unplugging.....
ReplyDeleteYour creativity kills me! I like D's buzz but - I think it's like a right of passage for every little boy. :]
ReplyDeleteSara I think you need to work for crate and barrel or kids pottery barn. seriously your talent just amazes me.
ReplyDeletei think we will do swim lessons for andrew next year. he'll be 4 1/2 and hopefully not afraid to get his head wet. thanks to someone dumping cups of water on him when he was little....plus we have a neighbor who teaches swimming and i've dropped a thousand hints and she hasn't said a word. it's annoying me a bit.
