Well, we've had a pretty fun week! Daniel had a 3 day weekend - which we LOVE!
Last Monday, we had a playdate at our house. Dmitri's friend Mikey came over to
play.
I told Dmitri, about an hour before he was supposed to come over, and Dmitri kept
asking where he was, and if he was coming home yet :} Then he'd look out the
window for him.
The playdate was fun - and the boys had a blast! They're about a week apart, so
they got along great, and were into the same things.
Dmitri had a moment though. He wanted to bring the little stool in his room. I told
him no, and put the stool away. He comes back in his room, with the BIGGER
stool! I asked him why he thought he could play with that one, when he wasn't allowed
to play with the smaller one?! At which he broke down and got embarrassed. Poor kid!
It's hard to be 2... and having a mom that wont let you bring a stool in your room...
{and yes, I did ask him what he wanted the stool for... but never got an answer :/}
So poor Dmitri... that night, Dmitri and Daniel were playing, and I just hear Dmitri start
crying. I come out of our room, and Daniel's holding him on the sofa. I asked what was up,
and he said Dmitri was running, then turned and slipped, and ran right into the corner of
his door. He had a gash in his head, that was bleeding pretty bad.
There was blood on his shirt, and he had grabbed his head, and ended up with blood all
over his hand. Daniel did a good job at cleaning him up, and checking him out. He assured
me there was no concussion... and that heads just bleed really bad. Still didn't stop me from
checking on him every 15 mins that night! But I'm so glad to have a husband that knows
what he's doing, and can take care of such injuries!
Daniel was on 10 hour shifts last week. Not fun. He had to sit in traffic every night because
of it, so he didn't get home until almost 7.
Wednesday we woke up early and drove him to work. I had an appointment that morning,
and my friend Megan, volunteered to watch Dmitri for me.
On the way to drop Dmitri off, I told him I had a doctors appointment, and that he was going
to stay and play at his friends' house. He told me no, he didn't want me to go... So that worried
me a bit! It's been awhile since a non-family member has watched him!
We got to their house, and they were waiting for us out front. Dmitri followed Jake inside,
and went right to playing. Oh... first he had to use the bathroom. I asked him if he had to go
potty, before we went to Jake's house. He said no, and that he wanted to wait and use Jake's
potty. Okay.... so that was the first thing he did. He kept asking about everything in their
bathroom - like their soap and the handle to flush, and the towel to dry your hands... I guess
other bathrooms are very exciting :}
So I ended up sneaking out. He went to play with Jake and Abby, and didn't look back. So I
slipped out, and Megan said he was great!
So I went in for another infertility appointment - because my period came again. Blah! They
do an ultrasound, before they prescribe clomid - to check for cysts. They start the ultrasound,
and check my ovaries. The first one looked great, then they pan to the second. Sure enough,
the first thing I see is a cyst. Boo! So because of the cyst, I can't take clomid this month. My
doctor said it's really common - and 98% of the time they clear up on their own. The clomid
will actually make them grow - which is what we don't want... so we have to wait another
month. Ugh...
I wont lie... I held it together until after the doctor left... then I cried. It was short though. I
also cried when I got my period this month. So lame. But I pulled it together, because I was
going to meet Dmitri, Megan, Jake and Abby at the Bishop Museum! It was nice to have that
as a distraction - and a pick me up! I don't remember thinking about the appointment the
whole time I was there!
It was our first time to the museum. I've wanted to go for a long time - just never made it
there. It was really cool, and a lot bigger than I thought! Jake had been there before, so he
knew where everything was, and where the coolest things were, so Dmitri mostly followed
him around... until Dmitri found some favorite exhibits... then I chased him around!
He loved the volcano room. He loved all the buttons and being able to go inside the volcano!
There was another room for the dinosaurs, and some really cool animatronic dinosaurs!

He was a little weary of the dinosaurs. We had an incident at the mall over the weekend,
so he's not so keen on these types of things at the moment... :} But I'm sure he'll be back
to loving them soon enough!

The picture at the end, he was cautious and curious about this loud noise that we were
hearing every so often. Turns out, it's a machine that makes waves at the base of the
volcano. You push a button, and a mechanism shoots down into the water, making waves.
He really loved the water table. There were 4 different buttons, around the table. Each
one showed the different wave patterns for each season.

We had an awesome time! Jake's really into superheros too, so Dmitri brought his Green
Lantern guy, to share. He was a hit!
We ended up taking Dmitri to see the movie on Friday. Daniel really wanted to go, and I
do enjoy superheros... and Ryan Reynolds... so I wanted to go to! We figured Dmitri would
spend most the movie running around, and he did better than we thought. He did take 4
bathroom breaks... and peed 3 out of the 4 times. The one time he didn't, he just said he had
to, so he could go look at the games in the lobby...
So he brought his 'guys' {Green Lantern, Captain America, Ironman and Spiderman} with
him to the movie... and when I asked him to pose in front of the poster, he had me wait, while
he got Green Lantern out of his lunchbox... so he could pose too... He also wore his Green
Lantern shirt. Gotta admit - I LOVE it! :}
{he was asking what Daniel was doing... and he was buying popcorn}

He LOVED the action scene's! He was enthralled during them, and would make pow pow
noises, and pull fireballs from behind his head. It was kind of adorable... :}
So Dmitri's been sick. It started on Saturday, he just woke up congested. It was a little better
Sunday, then came back today. He woke up this morning coughing like crazy! It may have
been from eating popcorn off the theater floor... or rubbing his mouth on the chair in front of
him... either one are possible options... So it was lucky this weekend was stake conference.
We vegged Saturday, and celebrated Father's Day on Sunday. I did some shopping Saturday,
and asked Daniel what he wanted for Father's Day dinner. He said roast beef. Mmmhmm...
One, I'm not a fan... two, I've never made one. So I went to the grocery store, and inquired
as to which cut was the best for roast beef. After picking out a good cut, I headed home and
marinated it. Daniel asked me to cook it in the slow cooker... which was easy enough! So I
put it in Sunday morning, and it was ready to eat that afternoon! It was pretty tasty. Daniel
said it was really good. So I'm glad he was happy with it! :)
I also made some cupcakes, and a cake. Dmitri was all about the icing, and would NOT stop
sticking his fingers in it, or chasing the cupcakes! Every time I'd move them, there he was...
his little finger ready to scoop some more!

After eating the icing off 4 cupcakes... he moved on to eating the tops off all the watermelon
slices. Ensuring that we catch his cold. Yep... just the very top of the watermelon... then
placing each one back in the bowl, so very gently...
But it was a good day! We called our dads and got to enjoy each other's company. Not too bad!

So today is day 3 of sick baby. Of course I woke up feeling icky too. Dmitri spent most the
morning lounging... then had a huge burst of energy, and I spent the afternoon trying to
keep him out of trouble.
This was not from today... but sometime last week. He had snagged my eyeliner pencil,
and colored on his forehead. He finally passed out on the sofa, and I just wanted to freeze
him like that. Love my crazy boy!

Today was laundry day. Sigh... Dmitri definitely had more fun with it than I did :} He
thought he was pretty awesome, sitting in the laundry basket. And yes, he was pretty
adorable!

Some more from last week...
1. If you haven't checked out the Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish, you MUST! I've
tried the butterfly, leopard, zebra, houndstooth, lace, glitter, retro flowers and the fishnet.
They are AWESOME! They stay on for a long time - and I think they're the greatest!
The two I thought I'd hate the most, ended up being my favorites! The retro flowers and
the butterflies! I don't recommend the multi colored glitter. I think I spent an hour trying
to get it off!
2. I made Daniel some peanut butter and M&M cookies. I cannot make regular chocolate
chips cookies. I cannot. They come out looking funky and super flat. I don't get it. So I
threw in some peanut butter, and they turned out awesome! It gave me a confidence boost,
and I tried regular chocolate chip the next day. Yea... still didn't work! I don't get it. I'll just
have to buy them. Blah!
3. Dmitri found my Vans. While they look brand new... They're actually like 6 years old.
They just collect dust in my closet. He insisted I wear them, and was thrilled there were
Dimy shoes, and mommy shoes. Daniel got some slip on Vans for Christmas... and of course,
Dmitri insisted he wear them too, when he got home!

Some randoms... The picture from fishing, Dmitri's first shot.

Thursday we went with some friends to Target. Dmitri's anti carts lately, but did tolerate
it, since he got to sit with Kaden!
As I just post about him being anti carts... here he is the day before, in a cart. There may
have been some bribery involved... and he was distracted by his new goggles. The goggles
are kind of a big deal... :}
And in one of Daniel's scrub hats!
So one of our new favorite things... making snow cones! Blue is a favorite ;)
Pretty sky, while the sun was setting
Spiderman, getting a snack before bed...
So last weekend, we had to go and get a tire fixed. They have this Ice Age thing
going on at the mall. It's pretty cool, and they have a train that goes with it - along
with some displays around the mall.
Checking out the train

So here's what freaked him out, in the animatronic variety...
These monkeys... He did not like them! Especially after some people
pretended to feed their baby to them.... so he is now VERY cautious of
these things....
See........
Oh... and he stuck a Thomas train caboose in his air conditioner.
I had to take a pic with my phone, to see where it was, then
fish it out with a magnetic fishing pole.... We had a long talk
after this....
I've been working on a quilt... and this is what I got when
I tried to take a picture...
Dmitri was convinced this egg would hatch! He spent a whole
day, trying to take it and hide it. This was his attempt, at putting
it back in the nest...
I know everyone is dieing to see the Ikea pics from last post... ;)
He shoved HIMSELF in the locker...
Repeatedly...
And his stuffed carrot... thanks to his Aunt Cassie, for pointing it
out to him! He came home with it... and loves it. Blah!
It did make an excellent airplane pillow though...
And Dmitri fell asleep, before bedtime, tonight...
So comfy....
Some more fun at Target! Checking out how big he's gotten... :}

My baby's going to be 3 in less than 2 months.... :'(
play.

Hang in there Sara. I know it's hard (really hard). But just keep praying and being positive. Easier said then done but that's what worked for me. I had to totally just put everything in Gods hands. And that was VERY hard for me. Very.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of Dmitri getting into the fridge with that spiderman mask on. He's a funny boy.
We were happy to play with Dimi during your appointment. You showed no signs of crying at the museum, I'm proud of you for being strong...and patient.
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait to play again in August.
