About Me

My photo
We are Daniel and Sara. We met October of 2006 and were married August of 2007 in the Salt Lake Temple. Since then we're kind of in the fast lane. We both got the baby bug pretty early on in our marriage and we welcomed our beautiful baby boy Dmitri in August 2008! We couldn't be happier! Daniel is a Captain in the Army and has his Bachelors in Nursing. We're living in HI and so far are enjoying our time here! I'm a stay at home mommy and am looking forward to finishing school. Blah :} Dan enjoys; hunting, basketball, shooting ranges, movies, *sigh - video games and Halloween. Sara enjoys; crocheting, baking, aquariums, sewing, shopping, swimming and trying to get organized. Dmitri enjoys; trying new food, crawling, bath time, stroller rides, electronics and getting into things he shouldn't. It takes all kinds to make up a family - and we cherish and love our little family! :)

Oh, you know...

So I think I spoke too soon, in my last post.
The week that followed it, was a doozy! We
had a tsunami watch, and a pool playdate
incident.

This is our second big tsunami watch since
we've been here - I hope they stay that infrequent,
or non-existent would be better...
Daniel had to work the following day, so I stayed
up and watched the news. I was happy that
nothing major came of it. Thank goodness!

The night of the tsunami watch, was actually
really nice! We had our first church book club
meeting, and I hosted.
I think we had a good turn out, and there was
a lot of good chit chat. I've started on the book
for next month. I really hope we keep this going!

So pool playdate... I had invited a lot of church
mom's and kids to come swim at our pool. It was a
good turnout, but towards the end of the party,
two boys had to be pulled out of the pool, unresponsive.
It was probably the most terrifying experience of
my life - and I've been robbed at gun point!
It's something I hope I never have to experience
again. I don't want to go into details, but the older
boy {5} was doing okay before paramedics came.
His brother {3} wasn't doing so good, and required
more medical care. So so glad to say, that both boys
are doing fantastically!! The oldest was home that
day, and the younger 2-3 days later.
I'm so so grateful for the power of prayer, and
the comfort it brings.
Before the incident - my little muscle manThere's Dmitri, next to the 4ft sign
We did have a lot of fun in the past couple weeks
as well.
Daniel had a work party, at Bellows. We'd never
been, but have heard the beach is fantastic! Well,
it IS fantastic! The sand is so soft - and there
aren't any rocks or coral in the surf.
Dmitri was LOVING it! He loved playing in the
sand, being buried in it, and playing in the water.
The waves were nice, and we slapped some wings
on him, and we went out and did some swimming.
He wanted to do it all by himself. He is such a
brave little guy! He thinks he's so grown up.We've also had some fun park dates, and the
funnest was a park playdate with daddy! Followed
by some shaved ice. There was a bully at the park though. He was 2 and
could barely talk, but he knew some swear words,
awesome... He also hit a couple kids there - and
would push other kids out of the way on the slide.
His mom was setting up a baby shower, so he was by
himself.
Daniel said Dmitri needed to learn how to deal with
bullies. But I was not okay. That kid would have
met the biggest bully, if he had touched Dmitri!
I don't put up with that.
Dmitri's starting to catch on to this hitting thing.
I had to have a talk with him, and tell him, "If someone
hits you, you tell them - Don't hit me!" "And then
go tell me, or a mom or dad." He said okay. He
did remember. He got hit over a toy the other day, and
went up to the kid that hit him. He said, "No hit Dimey.
Don't hit me." Then he came and told me what happened.

He still has his internal battles, weather he should
hit back or not... but I hope he'll be able to stand
up for himself, without having to resort to the physical.

So that's all the excitement here. The blog hasn't seen
that much action lately, but we have been keeping
busy! Also, I have quite a bit of pictures to share.
That's always better than text, right? ;)

Pics from Bellows

Dmitri telling me he needed his shirt off, so he
cold get in to waterGorgeous!
Love these two!Today we went to a playdate at the park. We
took Dmitri's bike, and he was so pooped out
on the way home, that I had to carry him, AND
his bike! I was pooped and dizzy by the time we
got home. LOL need to make sure and bring water
next time...LOL feet shot number two...Some awesome robot actionSHAKA! :]Tuesday night, I got to go to the Relief Society
birthday dinner. It was really nice, love the
ladies in our ward!
The food was yum, I loved the messaged shared
about visiting teaching, and the entertainment
was great! There was hula dancing, by my friend
Anela, and some of the little girls in our ward,
did some dances and moves with the poi balls {New Zealand}
I had a great time!!

So I also spent a good deal of time last week,
getting the car registered. Always a pain!!

We had to get two new tires, in order to pass inspection.
So Dmitri and I waited at Burger King, because it
was the closest place in walking distance, and waited.

It worked out nice. We were there for 2 hours....
and he played in the play area the whole time.
Conveniently, when one kid left, they were
replaced with another kid within like 30 seconds!
Wearing his first BK crown, and wearing green
on St Patty's day!Oh - and I did get some projects in...
A robot for Dima {I made the pattern myself}
and a doll for my niece Morgan! :]Some randoms....

The other day, I was in the kitchen, and
heard Dmitri making baby noises and
fussing. He likes to do that from time to time,
so I just kind of ignored him. Then, he said,
"Mommy, come here." I went to his room, and
saw this....Oh... and his fort.Reading... while wearing Daniel's shoesHelping stuff his robot
So some things about Dmitri, that I keep forgetting
to write down;

-He likes when I sing Mele Kalikimaka to him at
night. He calls it "Maka"
-He always eats his fruit, and sometimes his vegatables
first. I don't know where he got that... but this boy
LOVES fruit! And I hope he stays that way!
-His favorite book is 'I am Bunny' and he calls the
bunny Nicolbunny {Nicolas the bunny... :}
-When you ask him how old he is, he says 4. He
really wants to be 4! I'm not ready for that yet....
-He knows the number 7, he knows the number 11,
but when he counts, it goes like this... "1,2,3,4,5,6,weven,8..."
And I like his new number "weventeen" :]
-He is a cheese maniac. He'd eat an entire package of
sliced cheese, if I'd let him.
-His new thing to say is, "I'm busy."
-He insists he push every elevator button, and
every crosswalk button
-He LOVES robots, and does an awesome robot
impression ;)
-When he gets really upset, all you have to say is,
"Do you need a hug?" and he says a sad and relieved,
"Yes."
-He has become a cuddler. He NEVER ever wanted
to be held or cuddled. Now, he loves it.
-He likes to hold my hand when he's going to sleep,
and we say goodnight to all the stuff in his room.
-He knows that Jesus loves him, and that He's Dmitri's
big brother.
-He knows he's mommy's baby, and he's my smart
and handsome boy :]
-He thinks when I do his hair, that I'm pinching his
hair, "Pinching my hair mommy?"
-His favorite shape right now, is the crescent. He
likes to point out the moon, and tell us if it's a crescent,
oval or circle.
So we were watching Sesame Street one morning,
and there was a turtle eating lettuce leaves.
Dmitri goes in the fridge, and brings back a bag
of spinach. He takes one out, says, "Look mommy,
yummy leaves!" Then he takes a bite... and very
hesitantly says, "Mmm... yummy... leaves..."
I thought he actually ate it, but instead, he
pretended to sneeze a shoot it out of his mouth.... boys.

Then they started talking about pickles. A yellow
squash was the closest thing we have to a pickle in
our fridge. So he brought that back to show me. Then
used it as an elephant trunk....
My little "obot"
Lastly... at the mall, and he wanted to go into
this store so bad. When we went in, I knew why...
