Today was Dmitri's 15 month appointment.
It was nice because Daniel was off - and got
to drive there with me - instead of meeting
me there.
So we headed out - and then realized as we
were almost to the freeway, that we forgot
Dmitri's shoes. Daniel always tells me how
nasty hospital floors are - so we almost turned
around - but I found Dmitri's Crocs in his
diaper bag - as well as his church shoes. So I
guess there is a plus to not cleaning out your diaper
bag very often! :}
It was so windy today! We had to park in the
overflow - with is at the very top of the hill the
hospital is on.
While we walked down - I felt like I was going
to be blown over! I couldn't see where I was going
because my hair was going crazy!
So it was nice to get inside and pull ourselves
together.
We were called back the moment we checked
in. At least for the weight and height stuff.
Dmitri wasn't in the best mood because he had
fallen asleep in the car on the way there.
So he was still a bit out of it.
But he weighs in at 23.7lbs and is 31 3/4 inches tall.
So he's in the 35th percent for his weight and
the 65th for his height.
So once we were finished with that - it was back
to the waiting room. We waited about a half hour
for the doctor to call us back.
It wasn't too bad though because the waiting room
wasn't too busy.
When we finally got back there we talked about
Dmitri's development and what he's been learning
and doing. We also talked about his new sleep issues.
{This was the first appt where I didn't feel rushed. Loved it!}
The doctor said that something may have
triggered his hysterical crying when we put him
down. Like a loud noise or shadows or something.
We told him about Dmitri climbing out of his crib
and falling, he said that could have been it.
He also said Dmitri's getting to the age where he's
starting to get scared of noises, the dark and bad
dreams.
Which was interesting to me because I assumed
that all started around 3 or 4.
So he just told us to make him feel as confident
and secure as we can when it gets to nap and
bedtime.
And that we just need to be patience.
He also said Dmitri is on the borderline of drinking
too much milk!
So he had to get his iron checked to make sure he's
not anemic. Because too much milk can lead to
an iron deficiency. Which can lead to learning problems.
{something like that}
I guess he's supposed to drink 24oz a day at most. And he's
drinking 30. I'm not really worried because
Dmitri's a good eater - and a lot of the time he
doesn't finish a sippy. It just gets old - so I get him
fresh milk. Ohwell.
But he did say that skill and ability wise - Dmitri
is in the 17-19 month age range.
So go Dmitri! Keep up on those vitamins!
:]
Well his doctor said he didn't need shots this
visit - except a flu shot. And that the iron test
would just be a finger prick.
Well we get to the area where they give the shots,
to get his flu shot, and the nurse says no. Dmitri
needs his 15 month shots. Alright then....
So he had 3 needles pricks in his leg. They always
make him lay down, and that always makes him
freak out and cry. So he was crying even before
the shots. But once he sat up, he was totally fine.
And stickers helped.
Then we headed to the lab for his iron shot. Well
it wasn't a finger prick! It was a tie his arm and
stick a needle in to draw the blood! Poor guy - so not
happy. And a sticker didn't cut it this time! I felt
so bad - he was holding his arm as we walked
outside to leave :[
Dmitri fell asleep in the car on the way back. We
stopped for a quick lunch - then a car wash and
then home.
Dmitri just kind of lounged around the rest of
the day. So I let him watch like 4 episodes of
Sesame Street and just take it easy. Plus a little
bit of Tylenol helped.
So dinner - then bath and bedtime for him.
I took him to his room and we sang some songs,
then I rocked him while we watched his projector.
He got drowsy/borderline dozed off - but everytime
I'd lay him down he kept waking up.
At one point he did seem to be asleep - but woke up
when I left. So Daniel went in there and rocked him
unitl he started to doze - then left. And Dmitri just
went to sleep.
So not too bad I guess. It took about 20 minutes - but
he never really fussed. So progress right? Please say
yes.... :}
That was our day.
Oh I also cleaned up our lanai. I found a ton of
cigarette buds that {I'm assuming} came from
our upstairs neighbors. So I tossed them to the
bottom of their stairs. I was totally bugged.
I hate our upstairs neighbors. They are so
inconsiderate! I think the cigarettes pushed me over
the edge - and I'm going to bring it up the next time
I run into them.
Geh!
Daniel let Dmitri play with his spare gaming
headphones today.
Dmitri is so his fathers son.

Ok, I had heard that kids for this age group were (or could drink) 30 oz of milk a day. Hmmm, this makes me wonder because we are right there at 24-30 oz of milk with andrew.
ReplyDeleteboo to the needle pricks. no wonder kids grow up hating shots and things. we are done with andrew's shots until he goes to kindergarten.
