I spent this morning crafting. It was glorious.
Actually it started last night.
I LOVE vinyl lettering - but it's kind of pricey!
And I can't find any of the plaques here like they
have in UT.
So I came up with the idea to just use scrapbook
paper, modge podge and the computer.
Easy peesy!
I finished one plague last night - and tried to
make the second one. Disaster. Nothing was
working right.
So I put it aside and finished it today. And I'm much
happier with the turn out!

Here's the first one I did
It says "Home is where the heart is" I wish
I had moved the "is where the heart is" up,
but ohwell.
I found letters on sale at Wal-Mart for .75
so I bought what they had - a 'T' and an 'H'
They also had two I's, but I couldn't think of anything
that I liked that started with an I.
And no suggestions please - I don't want to regret
not buying them!
:}
So my wood plaques from Wal-Mart were
4.50 - and the letters .75 - then I bought a
tablet of scrapbook paper for $5 - but you
can buy single sheets {they're few and
far between here :[ }
Paint I had - and I bought Modge Podge which
was $8 {it's a big tub}.
So for one plaque - that's like $6 assuming
you used a single sheet of scrapbook paper
and you had all the supplies already on hand.
So I went Modge Podge crazy and made a few
other things.
I bought those decorative cardboard boxes
that come in cute shapes. I just bought square
ones. They were $1.11 each. I used the box
itself to make this
and then the lids to make this
I bought these letters at a craft store - and
they were out of A's. So I had to buy little
A's - and then little L's to make it even. I
like it okay :\
*side note - I'm totally into Modge Podge now.....
So I decorated for Halloween I think on
September 1st :}
And I've had a few peeps ask about my
decorations.
I didn't go as crazy as I would have liked;
small space and a toddler don't work with
overzealous decorating. Poop.
So I worked with what I had - and this is it.
first bookcase top {the branches are real ones
I collected from outside and spray painted black}
{{I love free :}}
Second bookcase shelf
Daniel and I bought these ornaments on our
Honeymoon - and we love them! We bought
a tree to hang them on - so here's our Halloween
Tree
There're four of them
And we got these guys on our honeymoon too
{we have 4 - these 2 and a guy with a top hat and a witch}
I saw this on Martha Stewart I think - and
I totally love it :} Soon the bats will be replaced
by leaves - then snowflakes
And then I just have maple leaves spread
around the house.
My next project will be a wreath! I'm supa
excited!
And my plaques will work for now.
Until I get the NEW Cricket {cough cough did you
hear that Santa?}
So since I spent the morning crafting - I spent
the afternoon cleaning.
We have 6 bins by our front door that
started out as bins for shoes, church bags, Dan's
Army ACU's and boots.
Well a couple of them turned into junk bins and
misc bins - so I set out to organize them.
I turned on Sesame Street {for Dmitri} and off
we went organizing.
So hour long Sesame Street ended - still sorting.
So onto episode number 2. Which ended while
I was STILL sorting!
Onto number 3. Luckily I got halfway through - and
had the bins sorted and everything in it's place.
Whew!
Dmitri loved bin sorting. He found so many awesome
treasures!
Here's his little pile.
It consists of an earring, sun screen, flashlight,
mints, lightbulbs, and a brush.
{this display was all him - somewhat orderly for a 1 year old :}
{{he takes his treasure stashes very seriously}}
Then some tasty headphones and an AC remote
And we took celebratory pics after our
cleaning victory!
Daniel worked today. He was charge nurse.
So I didn't get to talk to him much.
His day started off good - but ended busy!
He had to take a few patients this time.
But he's off tomorrow - and I have a honey do list
for him!
Mwhahaha! :}

Awesome crafts and decorating!!
ReplyDeleteSara why aren't you selling the cute decorations you make!! LOVE your Home is where the heart is, sign. Do you guys have a Michaels or something? Sometimes (at least here) Walmart runs out of things SO fast, or they never re stock. Annoying.
ReplyDeleteSo cute!!! Thx for the decorating inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteNo Michael's! Can you believe that?! And no JoAnn's :[ We have a Ben Franklin craft - which is in the most annoying location ever - and Honolulu Craft Supply - which has a decent inventory. Apparently there's a huge scrapbooking store here - I just need to ask where it is! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how big your boy is! He's so cute! And all those crafty things you did. WoW! I am not crafty at all. I'm impressed! I love the "FaLl" blocks and the Halloween Tree. Looks like you've got some pretty cute things. Good job!
ReplyDeleteCute Things u made sara and great Job!! Cute pics of Dmitri he is growing up so fast!!
ReplyDeleteI love the things you made! I didn't know you were so crafty, I'm jealous - I don't have a crafty bone in my body! Such cute decorations.
