About Me

My photo
We are Daniel and Sara. We met October of 2006 and were married August of 2007 in the Salt Lake Temple. Since then we're kind of in the fast lane. We both got the baby bug pretty early on in our marriage and we welcomed our beautiful baby boy Dmitri in August 2008! We couldn't be happier! Daniel is a Captain in the Army and has his Bachelors in Nursing. We're living in HI and so far are enjoying our time here! I'm a stay at home mommy and am looking forward to finishing school. Blah :} Dan enjoys; hunting, basketball, shooting ranges, movies, *sigh - video games and Halloween. Sara enjoys; crocheting, baking, aquariums, sewing, shopping, swimming and trying to get organized. Dmitri enjoys; trying new food, crawling, bath time, stroller rides, electronics and getting into things he shouldn't. It takes all kinds to make up a family - and we cherish and love our little family! :)

Let's blog!

Because it's been awhile...

I hate to blog, when I don't have a lot of pictures. And even though my camera
sits in my purse, all the time, I haven't taken a lot of pictures! Sad. Well, except
with my phone. So we'll see what we get.

Life hasn't changed much, since my previous post. We did, however, switch hotels!
Exciting, right? We were staying in one hotel, while the Army was picking up the tab,
but switched to another... when we started having to pay for it ourselves.
The last hotel was bigger, and the bed was comfier. The new hotel, the pillows are
better {which might be better than a comfy bed}, and the beds are pretty good. It's
smaller, but has a bigger fridge {plus freezer}, kitchen cabinets and a kitchen sink.
Oh - plus Direct TV {which is a win, for all of us}, and faster internet. So, all that,
plus cheaper - we can't complain. Except that we might kill each, before we get out
of here! XD
Dmitri has asked if his friends can come over, and see his hotel room - or come play
here. Sadly, I sad no. Lol what a strange playdate that would be! But we'll be in a
real house, soon enough!

Since Daniel's leave has ended, he's back to work. That means Dmitri and I get to be
stuck in the hotel, until he comes home. Unless we take the car, which some weeks
we seem to have it more than he does. Car number two, is on the list - in the next couple
of months. Thank goodness! It'll be awesome, having two cars again!
When our other car was stolen, I had no idea how I'd make it a week - being stuck at
home. But hello, it's been a year and a half, since the car was stolen! Crazy.

Oh, and an update on baby P {Daniel doesn't want me to announce her name yet, even
though she's had a name, since we found out she was a she...}, I finally got in for an
appointment! It had been 10 weeks, since my 20 week ultrasound - and even longer,
since an actual OB appt! Yikes.
So I went in last week, and they checked her heartbeat, which was in the 140's, and then
measured my belly, which is measuring a week ahead {I'm kind of excited about that}.
I also had my stats taken, and my blood pressure was AMAZING!! It was 118/76. It has
never been that low, at an OB appt. This whole pregnancy, I have been stressing about
developing pre-eclampsia, which I ended up getting with Dmitri. So far, no signs of it!

My swelling with Dmitri, started at 26 weeks. I'm almost 32 weeks now, and haven't
noticed any swelling {knock on wood!}. Unless I eat something super salty, the day before.

Also, I've only gained 2lbs - since my last appointment, back in November! After our
month in Utah, and all our eating out, I was for sure I had gained 15-20! But 2lbs?!
I think it would have been 1-1.5, had I peed before my appointment ;)

But baby girl is doing great! She moves like CRAZY! Honestly, probably more than
Dmitri did. She actually makes me sea sick sometimes, and she loves rolling over and
kicking my bladder. I've almost had a few accidents, which is scary!
I've carried her higher, than Dmitri, so I've been dealing with heartburn. And it's NOT
fun! I can't wait until that goes away :[

So other updates; Primary has not gotten better for Dmitri. Daniel or I, have had to sit
with him during it. At first, I'd just stay for opening exercises, and slip out once they went
to class. I've tried, just making him sit down, while I leave... but he chases after me. He
cries and says, "Mommy, I'm going to miss you, SO SO MUCH!" At first it made me feel
bad, but I'm over that. Last Sunday, I sat in the back, while he sat near his class {which
was a big milestone}. I just watched him, and he so wants to be there! He wants to participate,
because he bounces in his chair like crazy, with his hand raised! Of course, they pick the
reverent kids {which I've talked to him about}, or they pick names from a can, and his name
isn't in there yet. So that's been a bummer for him.
Last Sunday, while he was totally into what they were doing, I slipped out. I heard him coming
after me, but the Primary Pres grabbed him, and he sat on her lap, crying. They brought him
to me, when they went to classes, because he wouldn't calm down. So I went to his class with
him.
The Primary President talked to me about it, and I told her he's never been like this. It only
started happening, halfway through our vacation in Utah. She said she talked to his teacher,
about being there early, and us leaving him at the door. So his teacher will hold him, even if he's
crying, and he'll just have to get used to it. Which I know he will! So as long as someone is there
to hold him, so he doesn't run, I think it'll work out. I hope.

Daniel and I got a date night, two weeks ago. Our friends, Nate and Chelsea, participate in a
babysitting co-op, and it was their turn to watch the kids. They asked if we wanted Dmitri to
come, and I figured since he loves going to their house, it was a good idea!
I told him about it, and he was THRILLED! It actually went down like this;
Me: Dmitri, do you want to go to Ava's house on Friday night?!
Dmitri: YES!! Am I going all by myself???
Me: {Hesitantly} Yes...
Dmitri: Good! And you're going to stay in the car?
Me: Umm... I guess so...
Dmitri: And leave me alone?
Me: What?!

I wasn't sure if, "leave me alone" meant leaving him there by himself, or if it meant not bothering
him... but whichever it was, he was very adamant and happy about it. Lol if it was the latter, I didn't think I was such a nuisance!!
Well everyday, up until Friday, he asked if it was time to go to Ava's. When the night finally
arrived, he was very excited! I had packed him a bag, with his blanket and a stuffed animal, and
we headed over.
We walk in, and he makes himself at home, sitting on the sofa. He's sitting there, watching the
movie, and since he seemed good, we said bye and headed out. Well, enter the water works! He
started crying and didn't want us to leave.
Chelsea came over and asked if he wanted to give their dog a treat {he loves their dog}. He of
course said yes, and went up with her, to give Missy the treat.
Daniel and I slipped out, and I got a text 10 minutes later, saying he was totally fine. YAY!! When
we went to pick him up, he was totally passed out on the sofa! I was not expecting that at all!

Daniel and I went to Red Robin for dinner. We had ordered our food, and were just talking at
the table. The waitress comes over, apologizing about our food taking so long. Neither one of us
had noticed it was taking awhile... but the manager comes out, and apologizes. He then tells us
that they are comping our dinners! What?! I was not expecting that either! Awesome! So all and
all, it was an awesome night!

Lastly, we're trying to get Dmitri signed up for soccer. It's through the Army base, and they
required a sports physical, and Dmitri immunization records. I don't know if that's normal, for
regular soccer... but he has 3 immunizations, that are missing from his record. Two at 6 months,
and one at 12. I know he's gotten them all, but Tripler is not good at keeping that info... so I don't
know if he'll be able to play :[
Anyways, he also had his sports physical. He did great. He was a bit shy at first, but really liked
the nurse. So he was very cooperative. It also helps, that she promised him every Superhero
sticker they had. Which she delivered on!
He checked out! He got his vision checked, and is 20/20. He was weighed, and measured. I think
his weight was 37.something, and his height was 39.something. Daniel has the paperwork. But
is came out, that he is 80% for his weight! At his 3 year appt, he was 75% for his weight.
I am still shocked by that. He's so skinny! Daniel commented that his bones must be adamantium.
I had to look that up... and if you didn't know, it means; indestructible metal alloy. In the Marvel Comics Universe, it is best known for being the substance bonded to the character Wolverine's skeleton and bone claws... Which would make sense, because I still find it hard to believe, he's
never broken a bone! :P
Also for his height, he's still in the 65%. I can't believe he's grown 2 inches since August. My
baby is growing so fast!! :[

After his appointment, we were walking to the car, and he wanted to walk along the brick
retaining wall. He was walking fine, and then went to jump off it. He jumped just fine, but it
honestly looked like someone took his legs out from under him, and he belly flopped on the
concrete, and hit his mouth on the ground. Instant blood, coming from his mouth! Again,
luckily all his teeth are still intact. Along with never breaking a bone, I'm still shocked this boy
has all his teeth. You'd think he has it out for them... But he scraped up his face and hands
pretty good. Poor guy :(
The first pic, is right after it happened. The second pic, is the day after.
{and yes, I'm aware of his crooked car seat strap... I already had a friend mention it on
Facebook :} We were still parked, and he buckles himself in, so I hadn't fixed or checked it
yet... But it's usually up by his armpits, and straight ;)

So that's all our family news. We've kept ourselves busy - while being here. One day, we
decided to go to the zoo, because Dmitri kept saying he wanted to do fun stuff. It was
a pretty good zoo! They had a lot of fun activities for kids, which you'd think most zoos
would... but that's not always the case.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/new/2012-1-16.jpg?t=1329413824
It was a bit chilly out, but Dmitri insisted on wearing flip flops...
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/new/2012-1-161.jpg?t=1329413873
Dmitri has learned, that you can't chose an ice cream by it's color. LOL but he picked this one
out. Luckily, it's just vanilla ice cream, with lots of color!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/new/2012-1-162.jpg?t=1329413901
They also had a really pretty botanical garden. It was a walk getting there... but was really nice!
We were smart, and took the trolly back :}

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/new/2012-1-164.jpg?t=1329413944
Dmitri loved the little house, and playground.

So PBS Kids, keeps thanking Chuck E Cheese, for their promotional support. Blah. Of course
Dmitri took notice... and was the first of us, to spot a Chucka Cheeses. So we made a special
day, and invited Ava, to go to Chucka Cheeses.
I'm not sure it's what he was expecting... It sure was a lot different than I remembered! But
he still had a blast!

Dmitri was invited to a Valentine party, on Monday! Again, he was thrilled beyond thrilled!
We {I} made mustaches suckers, that I saw on Pinterest. We also bought some Green Lantern
Valentines, to pass out.
At first, he was worried I was going to leave him. So he would not leave my side. But I kept
reassuring him, that I was staying. He finally relaxed, and had fun making his Valentine bag,
and eating heart shaped PB&J sandwiches.
He really loved passing out Valentines. He could not wait for his turn! I was really happy,
because there were 3 other kids from his Primary class, and the Primary President there. So
hopefully seeing them outside of church, will help him adjust.

Daniel and I didn't do anything special for Valentines. We walked around the mall, with Dmitri,
and ate at the food court. Lol fun fun! But that was about it.

I had a girls night out that Saturday night, and went with a couple friends to see The Vow. It
was a pretty cute movie, and I had no idea it was based on a true story!
Daniel had a morning out, on Saturday, and took himself to see The Chronicle. Lol so fun for
both of us!

And now to the phone pics...

My little Valentine! On the left is the card he made for Daniel. He wrote his own name! I helped
with the 'M'... but he did the D,I,A, and heart on his own. LOL kind of hard to see...
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/new/Desktop7.jpg?t=1329417589
He insists on wearing this Spiderman shirt backwards... because he wants Green Gobblin
on the front... And bottom right, the blanket I made him. I have a lot of time on my hands...
Which you think would mean I'd blog more :\
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/new/Desktop6.jpg?t=1329417600
And prego pics! The one in the black shirt, I'm 28 weeks, 3 days. In the magenta shirt,
31 weeks, 2 days. The one on the left, I think it's just about 31 weeks. And please disregard
my hair, in all of them...
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/new/Desktop5.jpg?t=1329417611
We spend more time at the mall, than I thought. But we never buy anything... just walk
around aimlessly... or watch Dmitri play with the train table, and on the rides.... :}
Bottom right, he got a free balloon, on Valentine's Day!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/new/Desktop4.jpg?t=1329417620
Decorating his Valentine box... and making Valentine's! He wanted a green mustache!
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/new/Desktop3.jpg?t=1329417629
We passed by adoption day, at Petco. Dmitri was in puppy heaven! He had to pet them all!
He also informed us, that he wanted ALL the black ones, and a mouse. I told him, not until he
could pick up their poop. He wasn't on board with that... :}
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/new/Desktop2.jpg?t=1329417641
Okay... lastly, lastly. I never noticed how much Daniel and Dmitri sleep alike, until they both
started falling asleep before me :}
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y141/surban77/new/w-1.jpg?t=1329418586
And this morning... Dmitri was snoozing, and it reminded me of this picture, when he was a
couple weeks old. You can't see his arms in the new picture, but they're the same as in the
newborn one. I love when big Dmitri, reminds me of baby Dmitri!
