About Me

My photo
We are Daniel and Sara. We met October of 2006 and were married August of 2007 in the Salt Lake Temple. Since then we're kind of in the fast lane. We both got the baby bug pretty early on in our marriage and we welcomed our beautiful baby boy Dmitri in August 2008! We couldn't be happier! Daniel is a Captain in the Army and has his Bachelors in Nursing. We're living in HI and so far are enjoying our time here! I'm a stay at home mommy and am looking forward to finishing school. Blah :} Dan enjoys; hunting, basketball, shooting ranges, movies, *sigh - video games and Halloween. Sara enjoys; crocheting, baking, aquariums, sewing, shopping, swimming and trying to get organized. Dmitri enjoys; trying new food, crawling, bath time, stroller rides, electronics and getting into things he shouldn't. It takes all kinds to make up a family - and we cherish and love our little family! :)

I'm a mean mom...

So all weekend, I was looking forward to posting a new
blog post. I was going over the weeks events... thinking
about all the things I wanted to say... and now, I've
forgotten it all. LOL so hopefully I can pull something
together, and if not - it'll be a mish mash of pictures from
our week :]

Our Tuesday got off to an early start... Dmitri didn't fall
asleep until almost 10:30, the night before. So I was
counting on him sleeping in. Well... I got a 5am wake up
call. I threw him in bed with me, and he snoozed off and
on, but come 5:45, he shoots up and says, "Sun up! Sun up!"
So I took that as, we were up for the morning....I did luck out though, and he fell asleep on the ottoman
around 7, and slept until 9! So that was a relief!Wednesday, Dmitri must have been feeling the effects
of his early morning. He was bouncing off the walls, and
getting into EVERYTHING!
So... off to the pool! We hadn't been in awhile, so he was
thrilled when I said we were going!
We were there for 2 1/2 hours, and he still wasn't ready
to leave! I did use this to my advantage... he was running
from me, and slid by the soda machine. His foot went right
under the cage, that's around the machine, and scraped a
dime sized chunk of skin off the top of his foot.
There wasn't any bleeding, but I told him we needed to
go home and get him and bandin... which, of course, he
was thrilled with.
I should also say, that I suggested he ride his bike over to
the pool. We liked that idea, until about a quarter of the
way through our walk. Then he wanted me to carry him.
Like climbing up me, whining that I hold him. Blah. So I
carried him, and dragged the bike. Sometimes thinking I
should just leave it, and risk it being taken by the time we
came back. But I dragged it... and carried him... both ways.Check out that little white bum!! So cute! This pic is from swimming last week... I told him to swim,
and I'd take pics. He gave me a crusty look, and told me no.
"No camera's in pool mommy." And he refused to do anything... :}Wednesday I had an appointment to go to. My time options
were 8, 8:15 and 9. So I went with 9. I ended up bringing
Dmitri with me - so we woke up early, took Daniel to work,
drove back home... Dmitri slept while I got ready, then
drive back {and again, to pick Daniel up}.
I didn't know how parking was going to be, because usually
it's packed... and you circle the lots for 45 mins, looking for
a spot. Luckily, right when I pulled in, someone was pulling
out. So I was pretty thrilled!
My appt was to start our first round of infertility meds. I've
mentioned it on Facebook, but not here. Basically we've
been trying to have a second baby for two years now. No
such luck. Turns out my body supposedly decided to stop
ovulating - and I have really low progesterone. So they
started me on Clomid.
I was really worried about taking it. I had heard some not
good side effects... hot flashes, mood swings, weight gain...
and knock on wood, but Monday is my last day of round
one... and I didn't have any issues with it! They start you
out on the lowest dose... so I'm sure that had something to
do with it. I felt like maybe I had some hot flashes... but
living in Hawaii, I get those daily, without Clomid. So who
knows!
I would be thrilled beyond thrilled, if I only had to do a
round one... but there's a good possibility I'll have to do
more. Still crossing my fingers, and praying that round
one is good enough!
Trying to fix the tv at the doctors...Playing with his "guys" Batman, Flash, Sports Master
and Spiderman.
Thursday night, I went to book club. I always love book
club! We have a really good group, and the conversation
is always good! This time, I got home earlier... at 10:30.
So that was much better than last month 12:30am... :}
We read 'Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother' which I really
enjoyed reading! I thought it was pretty interesting, and
I recommend it! :)

Friday, I took Dmitri to get some new shoes. He has a lot
of flip flops and Crocs, but has outgrown his tennis shoes.
So we headed to the mall. I already knew what shoes I
wanted to get him, but he decided he wanted a say... He
picked out these superhero slip-ons. They were cute... but
not the TOMS I wanted to get him. So I told him they
didn't have his size. He really liked them, and I feel bad
that I told him that :[ I almost want to go back and get
them. But considering how fast he outgrows his shoes, he'll
have an opportunity to get them soon enough. These are what he ended up getting... I know, not
as exciting as the superhero shoes... And the TOMS
run small. I went with a 10... but should have gotten
an 11! But luckily he's still only in a 9.5, in most shoes,
because 10.5 starts to get into big boys sizes... and big
boy sizes are more expensive than toddlers... :[
So while we were trying on shoes, I go to put a shoe
on his foot... and there is blood on his right heel. I was
so confused! Then I look at his left foot, and the spot that
slid under the soda machine cage, at the pool, was bleeding!
Like not a little blood... a lot of blood! It was so unexpected,
because it didn't bleed at all, the day he got it.
So one of the sales girls got me a paper towel, and band-aid.
So all better... and he sported a nice pink Hello Kitty bandaid
for the rest of our mall trip :]

That's pretty much all we've got. Saturday I ran errands,
and Sunday was church.
I have to say, I was kind of in love with Dmitri's church
outfit today. I saw these pants at The Children's Place, and
they were $4.99. I debated getting them, because they're
white... but the style was just so cute!
{this was after church... a little disheveled, and a shirt button undone}
I thought he looked so dapper :] I didn't try them on him,
and bought a 2T. They're a little short... so I'm thinking I
need to go back, and get a 3T. I like them so much, I need
them in the next size up! :)So another thing I keep meaning to blog about! Dmitri is
100% potty trained! Before, he was potty trained just at home,
but I was NOT ready to take him out in underwear.
I was worried he'd have an accident in the store, or I'd
forget and then there'd be an accident... etc.

But I was talking to a friend, and she told me I just need
to do it. Ok... just do it.
Since we were having a problem with him being terrified
of the big potties {especially the Target one}, I bought a
small potty to stick in the trunk, for the first little bit.
And that's where he'd go. Seriously, once I took the plunge,
it was like he had been waiting on me forever!
He has been AWESOME! Something helpful, he's mastered
the fine skill of peeing, standing up. So sitting on big
potties hasn't been an issue. He also wont poop while we're
out, so I don't have to worry about that. And as far as poop,
he's actually started sitting on the big potty. Only at home
though. He's still freaked the automatic flush will flush him
away :}
Another thing I've discovered... when we go into a public
bathroom... I'll pretend to find the 'kids' potty. The first
time I told him that, he says, "Oh good, Dimy needs kid
potty." And he peed no problem. So that's really helped!
So yay - no more diapers! He stays dry through the night,
{knock on wood} and we haven't had any accidents
{double knock on wood}! I'm so thrilled!

Okay... onto random pics.
I forget what I was doing, or where I had gone... but Dmitri
and Daniel were watching tv in our room. It was time for
Dmitri to go to bed... and I went to get him. He was not
happy... and pulled the covers up to his chin to hide...
Not happy about bedtime... He LOVES watching tv in
mommy and daddy's room!
I made a feather hairband...
Dmitri modeling 2 headbands... along with a flower clip
Saying hi to the gecko!
It was on the outside...
And I was chasing him... so he went a hid :}
Saturday, Dmitri and I went to Target. He's big into
Dimy and daddy stuff. If Dimy gets something, he
has to get the same, or something similar for Daniel.
So he and Daniel enjoyed some daddy and Dimy ice
cream! One last thing about last week. Daniel went to see Thor
one night, while Dmitri and I stayed home.
Dmitri was playing in his room, and he comes over to
me and says he needs a net, to catch a bug.
I was confused, and said what bug? So he takes me to his
room, and closes to door a bit. Behind the door, there is a
HUGE cockroach trying to climb the wall! I tell Dmitri
not to touch it... and went to get bug spray.

He's not afraid of bugs... and is big into smashing them,
but this sucker was too big! He was very interested in
what I was about to do... until I sprayed the bug, and
it freaked out... and started running around the room.
Dmitri started screaming, "NO NO NO!" and ran over
to me, to pick him up. The cockroach ended up in the
middle of the living room floor, while Dmitri sat in my lap,
and we waited for it to die. Blech! Hate them! His body was
at least 2 1/2 inches... and his antennas had to have been
3 inches alone! Not okay....

So here's to a bug free week! Fingers crossed...
