Day two started off with a delicious free breakfast!
{we actually had a free breakfast every morning}
{{and it was AWESOME! Thanks to Dan's time in TX}}
After breakfast, we headed to the shuttle, and made
our way to Disneyland.
{lights always occupy Dmitri...}
And of course, Mickey came along for the trip ;)
And Minnie too... X}
Unfortunately Friday was a lot busier, because
that night was the big Disney Halloween event.
And apparently Nevada Day... so everyone from
Nevada headed to Disneyland {according to a
source}
Our first stop that morning was to Autotopia.
They line wasn't terribly long, and Dmitri was
occupied with the cars, for the most part.
I drove with Dmitri. I sat in the drivers seat,
and the guy telling everyone when to go, told
me that Dmitri could drive. Really? Alright.
So I switched spots with Dmitri, and he took the
wheel, while I pushed the gas.
We were apparently pretty slow, according to
Daniel, who was driving behind us...
Dmitri and I were all over the place, but whateves.
Well the track {that keeps your car on the track}
doubled in width... we were at a bad angle, and jerked,
which sent Dmitri's head into the wheel, then to the
back of the seat. No harm done, but he didn't want
to drive anymore... so I took over.
Friday was more of a day, for going on the rides we
had missed the day before, and ones we wanted to
ride again.
So after Autotopia, we went to Big Thunder Railroad
{one of my favorites!} and did the parent swap.
Daniel and I went first, and it was so fun! That's one
ride I LOVE to put my arms up and get thrown
around!
Waiting in line
Good thing Daniel doesn't get too annoyed with
my picture taking!
While Mike and Jennie were on the ride, Pocahontas
came out, and I took the kids to get a picture with
her.
LOL they were a little distracted during the picture,
and the look on her face is interesting... :}
So we had got tickets for Splash Mountain
{it was hot enough for some water rides!}
And Daniel and I used them for Splash Mountain.
We also got a parent swap... that Mike and
Jennie used... because they already had a fast
pass for Space Mountain. It worked out beautifully!
So Daniel and I went on Splash Mountain. He
had never been on it, because it was always too
cold when we went.
We were seated in the back, and there was a
family, with a 6 or so year old boy. So the middle
seat was empty. The boys mom sat in front, and
when we went down the waterfall, you could see
the wall of water come up over the front. She
was soaked!! But was a good sport. Daniel and I
got a bit wet... so we got lucky ;)
While Mike and Jennie were on, we took the kids
to see Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore! It seemed to be
a theme, when Daniel and I had the kids.
Sophie LOVES Pooh Bear and Tigger... mostly
Tigger. So she was so excited! Again, they didn't
want to wait in line - but I reassured them that
they would get a turn!
And they did. Sophie ran towards Tigger. Ran.
And Dmitri got a little hesitant. When we went
to take the picture, he was in the corner... saying
CHEESE! But Daniel brought him over, and he
warmed up to Pooh and Tigger... even giving them
both hugs.
Lots of Pooh Bears pics!

Even Daniel got to say hi!

Right after Tigger and Pooh, there was Eeyore.
They both ran up to him - and each grabbed one
of his hands, and both hugged him. Adorable!!

Well, conveniently located next to the characters,
there was the Winnie the Pooh ride. I asked Sophie
if she wanted to see Pooh's house, she said "And
Tigger's? :} Both kids liked the ride. Though Sophie
told me she does not like Heffalumps or Woozles X}
We were done with the ride, right when Mike and
Jennie were getting off Splash Mountain.
So then we headed over to Space Mountain, because
our fast pass had started.
Mike and Jennie went first, so we sat with the kids,
and snacked on a Mickey pretzel... and Dmitri held
the 'ear' up to his... and said "Mickey's ear"
Sophie had to go potty, so while I was taking her,
Daniel and Dmitri went on the Astro Orbitor.
Daniel and I went on Space Mountain, after it had
reopened a while back. And it had Red Hot Chili
Peppers music going throughout the ride. It was
awesome! This time they had a Halloween thing
going, with creepy music. Still fun - but I liked the
upbeat music better :\
At that point, we still hadn't gotten Dmitri ears.
He had to have them. He had to. So we went into
one of the shops, and picked out some ears.
While we were in the shop, Dmitri points and just
runs out! I followed him to see what was up, and
there was Donald Duck!!
Dmitri tried to cut, but we waited in line, and he
got to see Donald. That's pretty much all Dmitri
talks about - when we bring up our trip. Hugging
Donald. He even got to give Donald a kiss on the
beak. Adorable!

Alright, then back to choosing the hat! We were
debating between R2D2... of Mickey Pumpkin.
I told Daniel he could make the final decision, because
Dmitri just wanted ears, he didn't care which ones,
and Daniel picked R2D2.
We of course got his name on them :]
While we were watching them put his name on,
he told me that his Oma has a machine like that.
Crazy what they remember!

After a hat, we went to the Buzz Lightyear ride.
While we were in line, Sophie had a sucker, and was
nice enough to share with Dmitri :)

I knew Dmitri would love it! He sat between Daniel
and I... and got to shot at the targets. Or just shoot.
Well, when we got to the giant Zurg... Dmitri got a
little freaked. He sat back and put his gun down.
I thought it was a little too loud for him, so I covered
his ears with my hands, and he put his hands on top
of mine to kept them there. Once we were away from
Zurg, he decided to shoot again. Then he didn't want
to give the gun up!
After the ride, we had to exit through the gift shop.
Lucky for us, Dmitri was more distracted with the
stand, then the toys. He thought these dots were
buttons, and he ran around pushing them :]
And that was the end of our day at Disneyland,
except for Jennie and I running back to use our
fast passes for Indiana Jones! ;)
We headed over to California Adventures, and
grabbed some food for the kids. They also had
a High School Musical show going on. Dmitri
totally got into the dancing... and was waving
at the singers.
We made our way over to some more rides.
There was one that spun you out, so you were
up pretty high. And since Disneyland had a
Halloween party going on that night, California
Adventures was pretty empty. Awesome!!
So we rode this ride 3 times... awesome, because
the kids loved it!
And so did I :}
View from the top
The kids and hubbies ended their night with the
Tron show... which involved us all dancing. It was
so fun! I love these two... and they are darling!
Even though the kids, Daniel and Mike ended
their night... Jennie and I stuck around and rode
the roller coaster a couple times... along with
chowing down on sweets; ice cream, cotton candy
and a pastry. Delish - and so fun!!
We only spent about 4 hours there on Saturday.
Jennie and I decided to just take the kids, and the
boys got to sleep in.
We rode the train {much to Dmitri's delight} to
save time, and get to Toontown. The park was
pretty empty, which helped!
First on the list, the Princesses! There's an area
where a couple Princesses hang out, and you stand
in line, then get to see each one.
Waiting in line...

Oh my... so glad we went! Sophia was in heaven!!
She loved the one on one time... and getting to hang
with the Princesses!!
Hehe... love this one! Almost like Dmitri is the prince!
She had a lot to say to the Princesses... mainly
"Where's Snow White...?" X}
In.heaven. So fun!
Ariel even came over to Cinderella's area, to get
Sophie to look away from Cinderella, and at the camera.
Then it was Ariel's turn!
This picture makes my heart happy!!
We also got to meet Tiana. She was so sweet,
and played with Sophie and tickled her
Tiana trying to get Sophie to show her teeth for
the picture
Ariel and Cinderella... heading off
Dmitri didn't want anything to do with the
Princesses. And it was his own choosing. I
tried to get him to at least hug them, but he
didn't want to... and just stuck by me. I think
it was still too early for him.
After the Princesses, we headed to Toontown.
Since it was still early, and not crowded, we let
the kids run around a little more then the previous
days.
The cars were a hit... again.
Their faces crack me up in this picture!!
We decided to head to the Gadget coaster
again. And again, total melt down over being
measured! I don't understand.
Jennie tried calming him down, and I rode with
Sophie. He still would not do it... so Jennie and
Sophie rode two time - and then we gave up,
and just left.
So on our way to Gadget... we ran into Goofy!
Dmitri, again, did not want to wait in line, but
I kept telling him we had to wait our turn. Lol
even Goofy told him to hang on! Well, the wait
was worth it! Because Goofy took Dmitri by the
hand - and walked Dmitri and Sophie down Toontown!!
So awesome for them!! He was going to let them
cut in line for Mickey, but Mickey was inside his
house, not out. Bummer.
But the kids were still thrilled!!

So the rest of our time Saturday was spent
re-riding the rides that the kids loved!
So we rode on Dumbo. Dmitri asked for a
yellow Dumbo.
When you're next, they give you a wooden
feather, which you place on Dumbo's right
ear... and they pick it up before the ride starts.
Dmitri helped my put the feather on Dumbo's
ear, but was very concerned about it. Even
after the ride. So I told him it flew away... and
he accepted that.

We hit up the carousel again... which also
thrilled the kids. Look at that face! He was
petting and telling me about his horse :)

Jennie and I did get another ride on Big Thunder
Railroad. We did the parent swap - and she went
first.
Watching two 2 year olds... a little scary. So I kept
them in this little area, that only had one exit, and
we counted and spotted ducks, then waved to and
ease dropped on a raft full of Disney corporate people,
then waved at the canoe's going by.
Dmitri decided to poop... so it also worked as a good
spot for that... no one around, and I could keep an
eye on Sophie.

We tried to get on Alice and Wonderland,
but the boys called... and were ready to go.
They were nice enough to pack up our rooms,
and pick us up at the park, so we wouldn't have
to wait for the shuttle.
Dmitri wasn't ready to leave... so he ran off
every chance he got.
He passed a lady that worked there, and she
overheard me yelling at him.
So told him she'd put him to work, if he didn't
listen and stay with me. I told her he'd probably
be more than happy about that! He loves to be
a helper! So then she bribed him with a sticker.
Which worked... until we got to the parking lot,
and I made him hold my hand, or be carried.
So that was our trip! We then made the 12 hour
drive, back to UT.
He was happy to see be in the truck again... :}
And.... and hour and a half into the drive...
So fun! We loved it! The kids loved it! I'm
ready to go back! Assuming we fly... X}
Dmitri kept saying "FUN!" "Rides, fun!"
And keeps talking about hugging Mickey and
Donald - his new favorite.
Friday night, Jennie and I got the kids some
souvenirs in Downtown Disney.
I got Dmitri a Disney figurine set, and he
hasn't stopped playing with them and
carrying them around!
{Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Minnie and Daisy}
So I know he loved it!
PS... our ride home was filled with Disney songs.
Daniel and Mike signing "I Wanna Be Like You"
and Beauty and the Beast songs... priceless!
Thanks Mike, Jennie and Sophie!!
PS.... Disney day one, is right before this post

Ok, you've totally made me want to attempt Disneyland with Andrew. Dmitri looks like he had fun and I think Andrew would "get it". People keep telling me to wait till he's at least 4-5, but I disagree.
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures! It feels like I was there with you.
2 questions: did you use a stroller? And how much is it to get your name on the hat? I've never had one.
He would love it! There was a lot for Dmitri and Sophie to do, and you can parent swap on the rides {just ask for a pass when yo get to each ride} - which makes going on busy days, bearable!
ReplyDeleteWe brought a double stroller and two single strollers on our trip. But for Disneyland, we only took a single - that had cargo space.
We'd switch the kids off in it, when they needed a nap. And in Fantasyland, where they have Dumbo and the Tea Cups - you can just leave it parked by one of the rides, and go on the others around that area. The strollers Disney lets you rent, are pretty nice, but they're $12 a day.
The hats vary - they go from $8-20 and to add just a first name, it's $3
