About Me

My photo
We are Daniel and Sara. We met October of 2006 and were married August of 2007 in the Salt Lake Temple. Since then we're kind of in the fast lane. We both got the baby bug pretty early on in our marriage and we welcomed our beautiful baby boy Dmitri in August 2008! We couldn't be happier! Daniel is a Captain in the Army and has his Bachelors in Nursing. We're living in HI and so far are enjoying our time here! I'm a stay at home mommy and am looking forward to finishing school. Blah :} Dan enjoys; hunting, basketball, shooting ranges, movies, *sigh - video games and Halloween. Sara enjoys; crocheting, baking, aquariums, sewing, shopping, swimming and trying to get organized. Dmitri enjoys; trying new food, crawling, bath time, stroller rides, electronics and getting into things he shouldn't. It takes all kinds to make up a family - and we cherish and love our little family! :)

Easter!!

Alright... first things first - I got most my pics
from Utah back! {see post below}
I had to download a digital photo recovery program,
and it pulled them off my SD card - even though they
had already been deleted off it.
So yay!
I'm missing like 40 of them - they're there, but my
computer can't read them. So I don't know how to
fix that yet :\

So I'll either update my last post with them, or make
a new post for them.

Last week wasn't very eventful for us. We were lazy
bums - and there was a lot of working going on.

Our weekend and days leading up to it were great
though!

Thursday, I went and got a pedicure and my nails
done. I haven't had my nails done since the 2007
holiday season.
My husband is grossed out by acrylic nails. He says
they're germy and full of bacteria. Blah blah blah.
I was just going to get a manicure - but I was sucked
in... and I got a full set.

Friday Daniel slept because he worked Thursday
night.
So Dmitri and I got out a little bit, hoping he could
sleep better in a quiet house :}
We just hit up Target, and our usual's.

Daniel was off all weekend - which was SO nice! So
we took advantage and got out of the house.
We went and bought me a new laptop. I told him he
could pick it out - since he didn't approve of my last
laptop pick. He said my screen was too big {which I
loved - but it overheated a lot}
Though I wanted a Toshiba with an awesome white
keyboard {I had a Toshiba laptop before my last one,
and I loved it. But it overheated too - and then just got
old} But he said I'm not supposed to pick laptops based
on their look. But that seems like a perfectly reasonable
way to pick a laptop, in my opinion.
He picked a Dell for me. It's the newer model of his,
but his is a little different because it's more for gaming.
Faster video card and bla bla bla.
Anyways, I do like it - it's sleek and all black, but I think
I still like my old one better :X
I liked my bigger screen and beautiful clear picture
{except when my lcd cable started to go and anything
white on my screen was blue. And it had Vista - which
I now HATE! After an update my sound stopped working}

So my new laptop has Windows 7 - which I have high
hopes for. It stays pretty cool - plus I got a cooling mat.
It doesn't have the 10 key numbers like my old one - it's
lame, but I loved that. Otherwise - I'm happy.
And Daniel's happy because I'll stay off his PC and laptop.
He told me the other day that I need to create my own
account on his PC - because he didn't like all the stuff that
I download. I downloaded Dynomite from Yahoo game!
Sorry if it's not up to par with Call of Duty and Battlefield
:}

So I got my laptop - which was my 'Easter' present. And
Daniel got some cleats.
He joined a kick ball team at work, and needed some new
ones. They have games every Wednesday - and practice
on Saturday afternoon. He's having fun - and I'm kind of
excited to go to his first game :)

After that we went and had lunch at the Cheesecake
Factory. We've been hanging on to a gift card we've had
since Christmas - so we finally put it to good use!
It was pretty packed there, but we were seated pretty
fast.
We ordered some calamari {love it!} for an appetizer,
and Dmitri went to town!!
He loved it! He just kept shoveling more and more in
his mouth. He is quite the seafood lover. Or maybe just
friend seafood - which is what I love :) By the way, KFC's
new spicy shrimp - DIVINE! Those puppies are big and
delicious!

Saturday we spent dying eggs. We knew it'd be a messy
process with Dmitri - and he did have dyed hands the
rest of the night, but he loved it.
We had a few casualties. He was very soft with the eggs
at first, but got the hang of it. We also put some stickers
on them - which he also had a good time with. One of the casualties...Today we lounged around. No church because it was
Conference weekend.
The night before, I had put Dmitri's Easter basket on
the ottoman - because there was a better chance of him
seeing it.
He woke up, came out of his room, and it was the first
thing he saw - so success! He was all into the toys first - good boy. Then went for
the candy. He loved that the eggs were filled. And got to
have a little candy before breakfast. I also made a little
basket for Daniel. But he slept in till 10:45! So he missed
the early morning fun.

part 2

I was debating having an egg hunt, because I figured
Dmitri would just get caught up finding one egg, then
focus on that one. But I was wrong - HE LOVED IT!
He did really good - and liked his little collection. And
Daniel and I enjoyed watching him get so excited when
he found an egg :D

We had Easter dinner at 2. I slow cooked a ham, then
made mashed potatoes, white gravy, asparagus, corn
and deviled eggs - plus biscuits and apple cider.
Which ended up being EXACTLY what my mom cooked.
We even cooked our hams in apple juice! Creepy.
But we always had awesome holiday dinners growing up,
so maybe I was inspired by them.We were stuffed - but it was yummy. I had a slight disaster.
I threw all the potato peels down the drain - and they clogged
the disposal.
So the sink wouldn't drain. I was so worried - because you
can't cook a big meal without a sink!
Luckily I had some draino on hand - and it worked pretty
quick. So it's back to working.

And that was our weekend. Pretty fun. Hopefully this coming
week will be a good one!
Daniel will be off the night shift soon - probably this week.
Almost a month earlier then he was supposed to, but I'm
not complaining!
That and he's done precepting! So his schedule should be
lighter.
He still has to work when his guy works, but he wont get
any patients. He'll just be there to answer any questions
and make sure his guys doing what he's supposed to.

Also - Dmitri has been doing awesome in his 'big boy bed'!
He's not falling out, he goes to bed just fine, and he
stays asleep through the night.
One night I found him like this though...I think he made an attempt to get out of bed, but
was too tired.

I think he likes that he can wake up and roll out of bed,
instead of waiting for me to get him.

There have been a few napless days - but we had
those even in his crib.
Sometimes he'll even put himself down for a nap,
which I love!
I made him a little book holder that attaches to his
bed, so he can read when he's in bed. I think the
biggest help is having a firm bedtime routine.
And I hope he keeps it up!
A nap...bedtime...Here are some randoms...
This walker belongs to the baby I babysit. They
brought it for him last time - and Dmitri loved
it more then he did. When I tell him to get some shoes so we can go,
he'll find any shoes he can and walk to the door in
them. He got the block set from his Grandma when
he was a little guy. This one fits on his head
perfectly. We used to put it on his head because
we thought it was funny... now he does it in a
serious fashion.
{and we love otter pops:}
I told him we were going to the store, so he ran
and got his backpack. I thought it was pretty adorable!then got distracted....
I just love his face!!
A few more videos...
I love the way he 'talks' :)

And what did I start...?!
I've gotten a couple of surprise bonks since this!

Anywhos - hope everyone had an awesome Easter!!!

HAPPY EASTER!

  1. It looks like you guys had such a fun Easter. You rocked Easter dinner! Don't worry, I've clogged our garbage disposal twice in the last week and a half. I really need to buy some draino. Oh, and I love your table runner!! Super pretty. And since I just remembered...(I'm spacey and pregnant and I was sick) do you still want me to check on that fabric?

And of course all your pictures of Dmitri are adorable! He looks so funny hanging half on the bed and half off!

  3. I meant to write a comment on your last blog, but forgot. You're most welcome for the ride to the airport and I'm glad you had a good time with your family!

Looks like you guys had a great Easter. I did make homemade bread, but we didn't go all out with a meal.

btw...I thought the spicy shrimp from KFC were good too, at least when I ate them. But for the following 12 hrs after I ate them, I thought I was going to die!! Apparently they didn't have the same effect on you guys! :D
