About Me

My photo
We are Daniel and Sara. We met October of 2006 and were married August of 2007 in the Salt Lake Temple. Since then we're kind of in the fast lane. We both got the baby bug pretty early on in our marriage and we welcomed our beautiful baby boy Dmitri in August 2008! We couldn't be happier! Daniel is a Captain in the Army and has his Bachelors in Nursing. We're living in HI and so far are enjoying our time here! I'm a stay at home mommy and am looking forward to finishing school. Blah :} Dan enjoys; hunting, basketball, shooting ranges, movies, *sigh - video games and Halloween. Sara enjoys; crocheting, baking, aquariums, sewing, shopping, swimming and trying to get organized. Dmitri enjoys; trying new food, crawling, bath time, stroller rides, electronics and getting into things he shouldn't. It takes all kinds to make up a family - and we cherish and love our little family! :)

I'm torn...

I have this nagging feeling that I should
go private.
I don't really want to - but the feeling keeps
creeping up.

I don't know. I like that anyone can read our
blog - but then - what about the creepies?
If there are any creepies. I hope there aren't.
But what if....
{I have a blog tracker - so I've been monitoring
for creepies. Just so any creepies out there know that...}

I try to keep our personal info private. And I
feel like I've done a good job so far. But you
just never know :\

I was reading statistics online - and it was quite
interesting - and slightly unsettling.
Recent studies show that teenagers write
roughly half of all blogs today, with
two out of three providing their age,
three out of five
revealing their location
and
contact information, and one in five
revealing their full name.

With all the blogs out there - I think it's
something like 8.5 million - the likelihood
of being picked out of the crowd is not high,
but it has to be someone!
Lol is that creepy?

So that's what I'm thinking about right now.
I'll admit - I like to look at blogs - even if I
don't know the people. And it's annoying to run
into a 'private blog' - but I guess I understand.

One of the suggestion one site had to staying
safe... LOOK AT THE BACKGROUNDS OF THE
PICTURES YOU POST! A lot of times people
don't realize their house number or street address
is in the background of a pic of their kids - and then in
another post could have mentioned what
city they live in.
So there you go right there - someone has your
address. And to me that's scary.

I've seen blogs where people post what school
their kids go to - and who their teacher is. I
mean, really?

So there are definitely easy precautions you
can take to be safe - without going private.
And I know going private doesn't mean safety.
I've read articles where a family was being
harassed on their blog - so they went private
only to find out the harassing didn't stop!!
They did some research and found out it was
one of their own family members doing the
harassing and leaving horrible comments.
So sometimes even going private doesn't
protect you.

Another thing that hit me was; Assume what you
publish on the Web is permanent. Anyone on
the Internet can easily print out a blog or save it to a computer.
Hmmm.....

But I hope I didn't totally freak anybody out! And
if you're a harmless person who likes to read my
blog - I am 100% okay with that - because I'm
totally one of you! XD
But please - no creepies :[

So that's that.

On to more exciting and pleasant topics :)

Yesterday was one of those crazy fast days.
It blows my mind that tomorrow is Friday!
I feel like Sunday was just yesterday!
Ugh.
So yesterday - mid morning - my visiting
teachers came by.
It was nice chatting with them - and I liked
the message they shared.
Later I hit up Costco - that's a highlight, right?
And then went out that evening to do my own
visiting teaching.

Daniel was off - so he hung out with Dmitri
most the day.
Dmitri just loves his daddy! Sometimes it
makes me feel like chopped liver - but it's
still so sweet how excited he gets when Daniel
comes home - or when he's crying and just
calls out dada dada!
{he calls out mama too - so he still loves me :}

Today Daniel got to sleep in! He had a training
at 11 - then some meetings scheduled.
So that left the day open for Dmitri and I.

So we hit up the mall with Chelsea and Ava.
We went to Hawaii's first Victoria's Secret!
It's the biggest VS - it's 20,000 square feet!

It was sooooo packed and not quite stroller
accessible - but what store is? :\
After that - we had lunch and then headed
home.
I wont blog about the interesting site we saw
while there... it's not quite blog appropriate,
even though it's innocent. I hope it was anyways!
XD

Tonight I had to visit teach another lady on
my list - so I did that and Dmitri went to Ava's
house to hang out.
Daniel got home a little later then expected - but
he asked me to keep Dmitri up until he got home
because he missed him today. Aww!! :D

So that's been our day{s}. Nothing much to report.

My fridge is making creepy noises..... :[

And since we were talking about creepies.......
I always think this pic is a bit creepy - in
a funny way!
I totally look like the weirdo that sneaks
into the background of people's pics.
Meh - love it!
And that's my sissy Cassie laying on the ground.

Okay - g'night!

  1. I know what you mean about going private. Hopefully nothing weird is going on but..you never know. I tried it for a little while and I didn't want to blog anymore. I think it's good just to be cautious.

  2. That's good info on what to post and not. I try to keep somethings private. Like I didn't want to post when we were leaving for Tahoe because I don't want people breaking in. Even though we have a house/bella sitter, but still.
Are your guys dogs in hawaii with you?

  3. I know the dilemma, I have been thinking about the privacy thing too for awhile, especially since you helped me get my blog tracker on.....we might just have to take the plunge!
